The trio of bassist Giacomo Merega, guitarist David
Tronzo and saxophonist Noah Kaplan took shape from Merega's desire
to combine his dogmatic microtonal work with saxophonist Kaplan
and his collaboration with Tronzo, which follows a more spontaneous
modus operandi and pays particular attention to the textures and
sounds produced by prepared bass and guitar.
Inspired by the work of painter Paul Klee, the group's painterly approach stresses the Klee-like coexistence of figures and textures and their interdependent relationships.
Legendary saxophonist, composer and microtonal theorist Joe Maneri, who has mentored both Merega and Kaplan, calls the group "A creative, unique ensemble with great sensitivity and gentle phrasing evoking peace, playfulness and love."
